In fall 2014, I received a request from a good friend and percussionist, Joe Kulick. Joe asked for a new solo marimba work to world premiere on his senior recital. Having done two summers at The Cavaliers Drum & Bugle Corps as keyboard percussionists together and knowing Joe's abilities, I was more than happy to oblige.

This piece is very much in the style of a Chopin piano scherzo, while still exploring new harmonic and melodic ideas. The piece plays to the strengths of the marimba while also presenting quite a challenge and adventure to the performer.
